Expressive. Evocative. Enticing.
Paintings by France exhibit the primal force that resides deep inside of each one of us.
His visionary paintings, with bursts of energy, color and style, range from the metaphysical and universal to a raw inner core.
His creations remain evolutionary within the art world as France challenges and pushes boundaries.
Born and raised in Amsterdam, Netherlands, to a Dutch father and British mother, he came to the United States in his early twenties.
France learned to paint by working as a professional painter for the jet set of New York City, understanding the fine nuances from working with oils and colors.
A chance meeting with MAYZONE during an Art Club Party in the Eighties changed his life. They met at the Flaming Colossus, an L.A. club visited by celebrities like Nicolas Cage and Robert Downey Jr.
MAYZONE encouraged his natural abilities and France has created many works of art since. The first year, the entire collection sold out to art collectors and interior designers.
Eventually France became part of the L.A. Underground Art Movement.
France’s unbridled passion and strength for life export his own reflections onto the canvas.
Commissioned pieces are located in the residences of art aficionados, collectors, and commercial spaces. Works can also be found in galleries, hospitals, nightclubs, retail spaces, art shows, and restaurants.
France has been recognized by art critics in newspapers and magazines for his unabashed natural technique.
Some pieces are controversial; others are up to interpretation.
Over time France has experimented with several phases of interpretation.
With over 400 registered works and several sculptures, his art is constantly evolving.
